US calls on Ankara to renounce S-400s, Cavusoglu says it’s a ‘done deal’

During his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Ankara to renounce the Russian S-400 missile systems.

Blinken also expressed concern about Turkey withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention. The parties also discussed the common interests in Syria and Afghanistan, the initial talks between Turkey and Greece, as well as human rights and democracy, the US Department of State reports.

At the same time, Cavusoglu told Blinken that Ankara’s purchase of the S-400s is “a done deal”, adding that NATO allies need a roadmap to settle disagreements.
